WAFP Foundation Provides Updates, Elects Leadership at Annual Meeting
As part of WAFP’s annual House of Delegates event, the WAFP Foundation — the philanthropic arm of WAFP, though a separate entity — provided its annual update to membership. (If you’re a WAFP member, then you are a member of the WAFP Foundation too.)
The Foundation’s secretary, Farion Williams, MD, updated attendees on the organization’s activities over the past year:
- Awarding more than $100,000 in flexible grants to Washington’s three medical schools to fund family medicine interest groups (FMIGs), scholarships, rural training, and other activities.
- Hosting the annual Student and Resident Retreat to provide additional education and networking opportunities for our state’s students and family medicine residents.
- Supporting 25 medical students to attend the AAFP’s National Conference (rebranded as FUTURE 2025 starting this year).
- Sponsoring family medicine residents to attend the annual WSMA Leadership Conference to develop future physician leaders.
As part of the annual meeting, attendees also approved nominations for Foundation leadership:
- Vice President: Kristin Larson, MD
- Treasurer: Michael Luce, MD, FAAFP
- Director: Kym Clift, MBA
- Director: Rachel Wood, MD, MPH, FAAFP
- Medical Student Representative: Emily Crose, OMS-2
