Engage with State and Local Governance
State Legislature
Washington has 49 legislative districts and each district elects one state senator and two state representatives.
Use the legislature's District Finder tool to find your district.
Executive Office and Key Departments
Bob Ferguson is the 23rd governor of the State of Washington, and began his term in 2025.
Community Engagement
The most effective advocacy is local.
Every day, decisions are made in your community that impact patient and community health and well-being, and family physicians are uniquely equipped to influence those decisions with clinical insight, lived experience, and trusted relationships. Your presence matters.
Consider attending and/or getting involved in:
- County and city public health departments
- City council or school board meetings
- Local hospital or clinic advisory boards
- Local media outreach on public health topics
- Town halls and legislative listening sessions
Start where you are. Attend a meeting, join a committee, or reach out to a local organization. Your leadership can make a difference.
