WAFP Elects New Leadership at 2025 House of Delegates
STEVENSON — Sonal Patel, MD, MPH, was installed as president of the Washington Academy of Family Physicians at its annual House of Delegates meeting at Skamania Lodge on April 25.
Patel, from Mercer Island, previously served as the Academy’s secretary-treasurer is also a former president of the King County Academy of Family Physicians. She earned her undergraduate degree at Barnard College, Columbia University, in New York and her medical doctorate and master’s in public health at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She completed her residency at Swedish-First Hill in Seattle.
Other newly elected leaders include:
- President-Elect: Rodney Anderson, MD, Bellingham
- Vice President: Jordan Storhaug, MD, Spokane
- Secretary-Treasurer: José Flores-Rodarte, MD, MPH, FAAFP, Seattle
- Speaker: Jonathan Wells, MD, FAAFP, Seattle
- Vice Speaker: Blain Crandell, MD, Bainbridge Island
- Westside Trustee: Adriana Linares, MD, DrPH, MPH, MS, MBA, FAAFP, Vancouver
- New Physician Trustee: Jonathan Staloff, MD, MSc, Seattle
- AAFP Westside Delegate: Kevin Wang, MD, FAAFP, Seattle
- AAFP Westside Alternate Delegate: Lillian Wu, MD, FAAFP, Renton
In addition to those practicing physician leaders, the House of Delegates also confirmed new resident and medical student leadership. These new leaders were chosen by their respective constituencies earlier this year:
- Resident Trustee: Jonathon Fox, DO, Grandview
- Alternate Resident Trustee: Taree Chadwick, MD, Seattle
- Medical Student Co-Trustees: Autumn Welker, MS-3, Cheney, and Tyler Yarwood, MS-1, Lake Stevens
The 2026 House of Delegates will be held May 8-9, 2026, in Wenatchee. All WAFP members are welcome to attend. More information will be available in fall 2025.
