CME: Uncovering and Navigating Racism in the Mental Health System
The Washington State Department of Health is offering a two-part CME to help clinicians, support staff, or anyone who works with children and young people. “Navigating Racism in the Mental Health System” will be held virtually on May 4 and 18, 2023, and led by Makinie Fortino, LMFT.
Attendees will learn about the research behind racial trauma and how to identify it; culturally sensitive and relevant screening questions for racial trauma; how to spot if a tool you use is racist; assessing therapeutic tools to reduce the likelihood of inflicting racial trauma; and how to become a mental health activist and ally.
DOH has applied for 2.5 hours of AAFP CME credit. Registration is open; there are separate registration websites for part 1 and part 2. If you have questions, email pch-hs@doh.wa.gov.
