AAFP Now Accepting Nominations for Commission Openings

Members are now able to apply for openings on one of AAFP’s eight commissions, with terms beginning in 2023. Applications are also being accepted for positions on the ABFM Board of Directors and within the AAFP’s delegation to the American Medical Association.

Earlier this year, the AAFP announced changes to commission structures and member appointments to those structures. Starting in this cycle, there will be four members in each “class” on a commission, and one of those four members must be a new physician. Members appointed to a commission will serve a two-year term with the option of a single, two-year extension. (The Commission on Finance and Insurance is exempt from these changes.) More information is available in the memo announcing the changes.

Apply today to openings on any of the following commissions:

If you’d like more information on the commissions or the commitment, email Brian Hunsicker, who currently serves as the chapter staff representative on the Commission on Health of the Public and Science. Or, if you’re ready to apply, visit the AAFP’s website.

Please note: Though the published deadline for applications is Oct. 15, an application requires approval and a letter of recommendation from WAFP. To allow chapter leadership time to consider your application and draft a letter, please apply no later than Friday, Sept. 30.

See the AAFP’s website for more information on the opening on the ABFM Board or within the AMA delegation.
