AAFP Launches Resources on Managing Student Loan Debt
Changes are coming on July 1 for those looking to borrow money for medical school: federal loan availability is decreasing, new caps on loans will be instituted, and options to repay the loans will be simplified.
In response to these changes, AAFP has launched a new section on its website dedicated to managing student loan debt.
The section includes in-depth resources on the new RISE (Reimagining and Improving Student Education) rule; changes to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program; and the termination of the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan. There is also information on how to determine if you’d benefit from securing a private loan, frequently asked questions, and an overview of AAFP’s advocacy for medical students and residents.
Some of the resources are for AAFP and WAFP members only, so you may need to log in to access them.
