Resources on Diagnosis and Management

The two best resources on diagnosis and management, as identified by Dr. Pomeroy:

  • Primary Care Guide to Child’s Mental Health, authored by Robert Hilt, MD, and Seattle Children’s Department of Psychiatry. Free to all clinicians in WA.
    • Sections on ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder
    • Diagnosis, medication dosing, dosage limits (for ADHD, the methylphenidate limits are much higher than FDA-approved maximum [sic] dosages, based upon clinical experience and published research)
  • Canadian ADD Resource Alliance (CADDRA)
    • Organization founded in 2007 by a group of psychiatrists and psychologists who realized that professionals in all disciplines needed a good resource for accurate and reliable information about ADHD
    • Excellent clinical resource includes Guidelines for Diagnosis for Adults, Children and Teens, flow charts of steps in diagnosis. All questionnaires available to download or to send to patients, as well as patient information handouts, articles, and more.
    • ADHD LEARN — accredited CME in all aspects of ADHD
    • ADHD TrEAT — a comprehensive clinical management tool available only to members but a free demonstration is available to non-members
    • PLEASE, CHECK IT OUT! I can guarantee there is no more complete clinical resource on ADHD, for professionals or for patients.
