Join a Study to Improve Adult Vaccination Rates
From the Washington State Department of Health:
The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) is partnering with Johns Hopkins University and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on a nationwide study to develop an evidence-based Adult Immunization Quality Improvement Provider (IQIP) program. This is an exciting opportunity to improve the vaccination rates for adult patients while helping to develop a QI tool for providers across the country.
The time commitment is small, but the impact is big. Clinics will devote an estimated 4-20 hours to vaccine improvement efforts over the course of the study period (through June 2026). Project participation can help practices address adult immunization questions, concerns, and hesitancy during routine clinical work, while also improving general vaccine confidence for providers, staff, and patients.
Participating practices will randomly be assigned to a control group or intervention group. The control groups only need to complete the baseline and final study assessments. The intervention groups will work with DOH to build and test a NEW national adult IQIP program by measuring immunization coverage and using tools to increase vaccine acceptance. Both study groups are critical to the success of this study and development of an effective QI program.
