WAFP Celebrates Public Health Thank You Day!

On the Monday before Thanksgiving, the Washington Academy of Family Physicians joins other leading public health organizations to say thank you to those who work tirelessly to advance public health across our state.

Public health and family medicine overlap in numerous ways: Family physicians are a primary source of vaccine administration; they’re on the front lines of disease surveillance; and they are well positioned to help mitigate the potential effects of social determinants of health. AAFP’s position paper on the integration of primary care and public health has even more examples.

Did you know that WAFP members serve as health officers for 12 jurisdictions across the state? To them, to their colleagues, and to everyone working to advance public health in Washington: Thank you! We know that the past 22 months have been particularly challenging; please know that WAFP stands with you. Your work has saved many lives, and we are grateful for the work you do.

Please take a moment to share your thanks on your social media channels. Public Health Thank You Day was started by Research!America, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness of the health and economic benefits of medical research, and the American Public Health Association.
