Engagement Opportunities for Resident Members of WAFP
In addition to the awards offered by the WAFP Foundation, there are other ways resident members can make a difference within WAFP:
- Family Medicine Advocacy Day: Each winter when the state legislature is in session, WAFP hosts an advocacy day in Olympia to advance family medicine and ensure access to care for all Washingtonians. Residents and medical students are a critical part of this event, and your voice is very much appreciated by legislators.
- Join the WAFP Board of Directors: Residents play a critical role in the governance of WAFP. As the Academy considers policies and future projects, resident input matters. If you're interested or have questions, email Alyssa McEachran, WAFP's director of pipeline and practice relations.
- Participate in the House of Delegates: The House of Delegates considers policy proposals submitted by WAFP members. That means you, as a WAFP member, may submit policy proposals to determine the Academy's course of work! At the annual House of Delegates each spring, you also get to shape those proposals offered by others.
