QPP is an overarching term for MACRA’s two payment tracks: MIPS (Merit-Based Incentive Payment System) and Advanced Alternative Payment Models (AAPM). Most AAFP members will initially participate in MIPS. Participation in 2017 will impact Medicare payments when QPP payment adjustments take effect in 2019. That’s why CMS deemed 2017 a transition year, allowing physicians to “Pick Your Pace”.
Still not sure? The video below — produced by AAFP — will help you get up to speed on QPP.
And there’s more resources if you want to take a deeper dive. Seattle-based Qualis Health recently launched its Quality Payment Program Resource Center, which includes tools to help practices successfully participate in QPP. Those tools include:
- An interactive toolkit that dives into the details of QPP and MIPS, providing a step-by-step process for success.
- The MIPS Minute video podcast series that features 11 brief episodes to helps clinicians prepare for and understand the requirements of the QPP.
- An online readiness assessment that allows clinicians to determine where they stand in preparation for QPP participation.
- A MIPS calculator that estimates a practice’s MIPS final score, as well as valuable information to help the practice target quality measures and improvement activities.
The Qualis Health QPP Resource Center has been funded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and is coordinated locally with the state’s leading provider associations, including the WAFP, Washington State Hospital Association and Washington State Medical Association.
In addition to the QPP online resource center, Qualis Health also provides practices in Washington with customized technical assistance that includes regular office hours and webinars, monthly program updates, strategic MIPS planning and access to a QPP helpdesk.
