14th HIV Care in the Correctional Setting Conference

The 14th HIV Care in the Correctional Setting Conference will be held Saturday, March 9, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hotel RL in Olympia (2300 Evergreen Park Drive SW, Olympia, 98502). The conference is free to health care providers working with justice populations. Clinicians who do not work in a correctional facility or with recently incarcerated populations are welcome to attend but must pay a $50 registration fee to cover event costs and CME.

The keynote will be presented by David Spach, MD, professor of medicine at the University of Washington and editor-in-chief of the journals National HIV Curriculum and Hepatitis C Online. The agenda includes additional presentations on HIV and aging, medications for opioid use disorder, and more.

An application for CME credit will be filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians.

The conference is co-presented by the Mountain West AIDS Education & Training Center and the University of Washington STD Prevention Training Center.

Ongoing: Suicide Prevention Online CME

Kaiser Permanente is offering a free six-hour course on suicide prevention for physicians and physician assistants; osteopathic physicians and osteopathic physician assistants; licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, and advanced registered nurse practitioners; naturopaths; social workers, and mental health providers.

Washington law stipulates that certain health care providers, including physicians and osteopathic physicians, must receive six hours of training in suicide prevention. This course is listed on the Department of Health’s 2017 Model List.
