Policy and Advocacy Leadership Institute (PALI) & Family Medicine Day at the Capitol
Spend the day at the Capitol hearing from legislators, agency heads and the governor’s staff about key issues for primary care physicians, including health care reform implementation, the status of patient-centered medical homes in Washington, and the impact of the state’s budget challenges on your patients. Attendees receive advocacy skill building tips from policy development experts and are briefed on Academy priorities and pending legislation. After a working lunch discussing Academy priorities, attendees spend the afternoon meeting with legislators and relevant agency staff.
This event is free of charge, and is only open to members. The next PALI event will be held in January or February 2018. Please check back for dates and registration information.

Primary Care Symposium
The most recent symposium was held on March 18, 2015, in Olympia, where State policy makers and family physicians from across the state met to discuss issues that affect family medicine, as well as the innovate work being piloted by family physicians that is improving the health of patients.
A date for the next Primary Care Symposium has not been scheduled. Please check back for more information.

Family Medicine Advocacy Summit
Learn valuable advocacy skills at the Family Medicine Advocacy Summit (FMAC), held in April or May each year. In two days, learn about the legislative process, current priorities for family medicine, and meet with members of Washington’s Congressional Delegation.

State Legislative Conference
Your voice counts, and the power of one can make all the difference. Influence health care reform where it really matters—at the state level. Attend the State Legislative Conference to network with your colleagues, chapter leaders, chapter staff, and state health care policy experts.  Event is typically held in November and the location rotates around the country.

Health is Primary – Seattle City Tour
On March 19, 2015, Family Medicine for America’s Health, a partnership of eight leading family medicine organizations in the United States, visited Seattle to hear from a panel group of Washington family physicians who are revolutionizing health care delivery, each through a unique innovation.
The visit was the kick-off event for the Health is Primary City tour. The campaign is traveling to cities across the country to highlight individuals, organizations, and communities that demonstrate the benefits of primary care in achieving the Triple Aim.  Read more about the Seattle event here.
