The WAFP works to influence the development of health care policy by encouraging its members to become involved and to take leadership positions within their communities. The Academy also advocates for enactment of legislation and regulations that will enable all Washingtonians to have a medical home and access to health care.
Throughout the year, WAFP hosts a number of events to educate members about the legislative process and issues that affect family physicians and their patients statewide, such as the Policy and Advocacy Leadership Institute (Family Medicine Day at the Capitol) held during the Legislative session, and the Primary Care Symposium. These events are open to all WAFP members. Registration is required.
Members are encouraged to become familiar with WAFP’s legislative agenda and invited to stay up to date on policy making activities that affect Family Physicians through our regular legislative updates.
