School-Based AED Programs

RESOLVED, that the WAFP write letters to Washington State high school principals recommending that AEDs be placed in schools and be publicly accessible during all activities and events on campus, and be it further
RESOLVED, that the WAFP write a letter to the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) urging the Representative Assembly to pass an amendment to the WIAA Handbook requiring AEDs to be available at all events on school campus and that staff be trained in the use of AEDs in addition to CPR, and be it further
RESOLVED, that the WAFP delegation to the AAFP submit a resolution directing the AAFP, in partnership with the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, to advocate for implementation of and funding for AEDs in schools by supporting future proposed legislation and by writing letters to the National Federation of State High School Associations and state athletic associations.
