Later in 2019, the Washington Academy of Family Physicians (WAFP) will accept nominations for the 2020 FAMILY PHYSICIAN OF THE YEAR (FPOY). The purpose of this award is to honor a physician who exemplifies, in the tradition of family medicine, a compassionate commitment to improving the health and well-being of people and communities throughout Washington.
The candidate must be a member in good standing of WAFP. Nominees should exemplify the ideals of family medicine, including providing comprehensive, compassionate services on a continuing basis to his/her community, and possessing personal qualities that make him/her a role model to professional colleagues.
Any member of the WAFP may submit a nomination. Eligibility will be verified by the WAFP. Qualified nominees may be nominated more than once; however, a member may receive the award only once. Current members of the WAFP Board of Directors are not eligible for nomination.
The award will be presented during the WAFP Annual Meeting Banquet and Foundation Auction in May. The physician chosen as the 2020 WAFP Family Physician of the Year may be nominated as Washington’s nominee for the 2021 AAFP Family Physician of the Year award.
